The 24-hour conference Small Projects for Coming Communities, held at Hospitalhof Stuttgart on 11 May 2019, examined how temporary, transversal, and translocal forms of community might emerge through artistic, curatorial, and collective practices. Lectures by Tine De Moor, Jeanne van Heeswijk, Sabih Ahmed, Katalin Erdődi, Bill Dietz, Grant Kester, and Elke Krasny addressed collective action, socially engaged art, institutional structures, and alternative models of community. The programme combined theoretical contributions with score performances, collective discussions, a Diversity Dinner, and the overnight performance Sticky Stage by Discoteca Flaming Star.
