De-Colonizing Art Institutions examined how „Western“ models continue to shape museums, biennials, and the global art world. The project brought together proposals, images, and concepts by artists and researchers exploring alternative institutional practices and multiple cultural perspectives. Each artist created a proposal on DINA4, which could printed and installed in the empty exhibition space.
Presented at the OnCurating Project Space in June 2017, the exhibition was accompanied by workshops, a Summer Academy at ZHdK, a symposium at Kunstmuseum Basel, and an open-access publication designed to be reactivated in further exhibitions and discussions.
