Organisation and teaching of the Baustein
Translocality in the Arts (Ecology & Heritage)
for the Winter School 2025, Centre for Continuing Education, ZHdK, Zurich, Switzerland,
6–8 February 2025

Our contemporary, late capitalist societies are characterized by situated, pluralistic living conditions, post-migratory and diasporic experiences and forms of transculturality and participation. Exhibition making and artistic and curatorial practices reflect these dynamics. A forward-looking focus will therefore be on participatory practices and their mediation in order to create engaging exhibitions that enable access and collaboration between different diverse publics.

This Winter School was dedicated to the complex concepts of translocality and participatory practices in the arts and how they influence cultural dialog. The course provided theoretical contexts and insights into translocal aspects of exhibition making.
We visited Kunsthaus Zürich, Daniel Morgenthaler, Helmhaus, Adriana Domínguez Velasco, La Capsula.
